Setup
Divide team into 2 groups, roughly talls and smalls, then have each tall partner-up with a small. Give each pair 4 cones - they will setup their own stations prior to each exercise - and a ball. If you have too few balls, half the pairs sit out each event, then rotate on.
Step 1
Event 1: Synchronized Handball. Form 2 long lines approximately 3m apart, with members from each pair opposite one another. Each player drops a cone at their feet.
Pairs (consisting of A and B) handball to one another at exactly the same time.
Players must handball then quickly adjust to take their partner's handball. They may not move more than one step off their cone when marking the ball.
Once a ball is dropped, balls collide, or a player moves 2 steps off the cone, the pair is eliminated. Continue until 1 pair remains. Stop and play a grand-final between the final pair, the loser being the player who either handballs wide of their teammate, or drops the ball.
Step 2
Event 2: Handball Touchdown. Each team sets up their own 5x5m square, with 2m space to the next pair's square.
(A) will be handballing diagonally and (B) down the line. (A) starts and handballs to the opposite corner to running (B) who must take the ball within close proximity to the cone. (A) then runs to the other cone on their line, (B) handballs down the line to them. Again, the ball must be taken close to the cone.
This repeats back the other way, (A) again handballs diagonally, then (B) down the line.
A pair is eliminated if judged to be too far away from the cone when receiving (allow about half a metre), or the ball is dropped. The final pair play off in the final, the loser being the first player to make an errant handball or drop the ball.
Step 3
Event 3: Short Kick Touchdown. Each team sets up their own 15x15m square, with 5m space to the next pair's square.
A repeat of event 2, except using short kicks.
Step 4
Event 4: Medium Kicks to a Lead. Form 2 long lines approximately 40m apart, with members from each pair opposite one another. Each player drops a cone at their feet.
(A) from each pair starts with a ball, (B) leads hard towards them.
If (B) marks the ball without breaking stride (allow for a slight change of pace, but no stopping and waiting) then the pair stay alive, otherwise a dropped ball or bad kick sees them eliminated. After all (A)'s have kicked, start from the other end with (B) kicking and (A) leading.
Have a grand final between the past pair standing, the loser being the player to kick poorly or drop a mark.
Step 5
Event 5: Goalkicking. This can be done individually, however you may wish to form several lines to speed up the process.
(A)'s start from the 50m arc for seniors and on the coaches whistle, take a set shot at goal. Players will end up kicking from about 35m out.
Players that miss are eliminated. After everyone's had a turn, make the angle more difficult or start from further out.
Last person to kick a goal when everyone else has missed is the winner.
Step 6
Optionally you may have a scoring system for wins in each of the events, e.g. 2 points for the winner and 1 point for the runner up.
