  • Setup

    In this drill you will need a feeder middle court (A), a setter in Zone 3 (B), a queue of outside hitters in Zone 5 (C). On the other side of the court, a queue of shuffle blockers (D) in Zone 3, with an outside blocker in Zone 4 (E).

  • Step 1

    Player (A) tosses the ball to the setter (B) in Zone 3.

  • Step 2

    The setter sets the ball up at the net for the outside hitter (C).

  • Step 3

    Meanwhile, at the same time as the set, the shuffle blocker (D) makes a 2-step sideways mounouvre and jumps with player (E).

  • Step 4

    Player (C) jumps and spikes the ball over the net and attempts to beat blockers (D) and (E).

  • Step 5

    Player (D) becomes player (E), while player (E) joins the queue of shuffle blockers.

  • Step 6

    (C) goes to collect their ball and rejoins the spiking queue.

  • Step 7

    Coaches can use a scoring formula to run this drill:
